This book is as good as any I have seen. The real strength of this guide over its rivals is the wealth of information provided. I was particularly impressed with the comments on population and conservation status, which are flagged up for each species. It makes you understand how rare a bird is, when you realise that its population is down to the last 100 pairs! The illustrations are super, distribution maps are accurate and the price is excellent...buy it.

Birds New to Britain 1980-2004 Buy from: Amazon.co.uk   or Amazon.com Adrian Pitches & Tim & Cleeves I really enjoyed this book, the accounts evoking treasured memories of journeys to the far flung corners of the UK chasing some of the finest birds around. These are the stories of birds never before recorded in Britain, capturing the breathtaking excitement of this unique, once in a lifetime birding experience.

Flight Identification of European Seabirds Buy from: Amazon.co.uk   or Amazon.com Anders Blomdahl, et al This book is set to become the dedicated sea-watchers bible. Flight photography is very difficult, especially for seabirds and yet this volume contains over 650 generally superb shots, each carefully annotated to pick out the key identification features. Just about every seabird that has ever occurred in European waters has been included. (making this book equally valuable to birders on the East coast of America.) The authors are experts in their field and they have included a wealth of new information.
