Cactus Wren, Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus
Notes: no_data

Cactus Wren, Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus
Notes: We had climbed the gentle slope of the Sabino Canyon in Tucson, but had left our lunch behind in the car. After our descent we ate at the park entrance, and were quickly surrounded by some cactus wrens looking for handouts. The attached photo has one of these wrens with some egg omelet still on his bill, which I had thrown to him.

Chestnut Jacamar, Galbalcyrhynchus purusianus
Notes: Originally identified as Purplish Jacamar. For many reasons this is not Galbula chalcothorax (which has a thinner black bill, the crown and ear-coverts are blackish-green with a bluish sheen, it has a white throat in both sexes, the lower belly is spotted white and it has a much longer tail). This is another bird sympatric in E Peru to chalcothorax, (i.e. Galbalcyrhynchus purusianus) - thick yellowish-pink bill, the evident short tail of the genus, and the overall chestnut colored plumage exception made for the forehead, primaries and retrices which are dark bronzy or greenish-black.
